  Award nomination process overview

Each year at the Annual World EAP Conference, the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) celebrates the achievement of members, individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves through their work and leadership in EAPA and the employee assistance profession. 

This year, EAPA is accepting nominations for the following juried awards:

  • Best Delivery/Innovation in Critical Incident Response  
  • Best Use of Technology in Employee Assistance  
  • EAP Quality Award 
  • EAPA Member of the Year 
  • EAPA Newcomer Recognition Award 
  • Excellence in Employee Assistance Business Development 
  • Lifetime Achievement Award 
  • Outstanding Branch Award 
  • Outstanding Chapter Award 
  • Ross Von Wiegand Award 
The nomination process his simple. Only one nomination is required per award. Self nomination is allowed. We encourage succinct nominations. It is acceptable to use bullet points. Nomination requires completing the online form for that specific award. 

Review and notification process:

  • The Awards Committee verifies eligibility and qualifications upon receipt of the nomination.
  • The Awards Committee reviews eligible and qualified nominations against the criteria for the award, and in comparison with the other nominations.
  • The Awards Committee submits its recommendations to the EAPA Board of Directors for approval.
  • Following EAPA Board approval, the Awards Committee notifies both the award winner and the nominator(s).
  • Award recipients will receive the Early Bird registration rate regardless of when they register to attend the conference. 
  • Awards will be presented at the 2017 EAP Conference in Los Angeles, California.
The nominations deadline is June 30, 2017.

  Nominate a candidate for an award

Read the instructions carefully.  Review the eligibility and selection criteria for each award before completing the online nomination form. 

There is a separate online form for each award category,  containing the minimum criteria that qualify a nominee to receive that award. Respond to each qualifying criterion, and where appropriate, include specific events, projects, activities, etc. that support the nomination.

Best Delivery/Innovation in Critical Incident Response - given to an EAP or an individual for exceptional response following a critical incident. CIR service delivery may have occurred under difficult/challenging circumstances. Self nomination is allowed.

Eligibility requirements:
Response happened within 18 months prior to the World EAP Conference

Submission includes:
1. Description of critical incident
2. Description of difficult/challenging circumstance
3. Description of response following the incident

Nominate a candidate for this award

Best Use of Technology in Employee Assistance – given to an EAP, a chapter, branch, individual or entrepreneur for cutting edge use of technology in the delivery of EA services. Self nomination is allowed.

Submission includes:
1. Description of technology
2. How the nominee has incorporated the technology into the delivery of EAP services, including specific examples of how the technology is applied
3. An explanation of how the use of this technology has led to improvement in delivery of EA services
4. A compelling summary as to why the nominee should receive this award.

Nominate a candidate for this award

EAP Quality Award honors an EAP that demonstrates excellence through: 
 1. adherence to the EAPA Standards and Guidelines for EAP Programs 
 2. continuous quality improvement 
 3. use of state of the art technologies to enhance service delivery
 4. use of evidenced based tools, like the Workplace Outcomes Suite (WOS) Tool, to demonstrate effectiveness in quantifiable business terms
5. Self nomination is allowed.

Eligibility Requirements
 1. Internal EAP: the nominated program is a specific employer or union organization. External EAP: the nominated program is a specific host organization, and the EAP firm will also be recognized.
 2. The program adheres to the EAPA Standards and Guidelines for Employee Assistance Programs

Submission includes
 1. How the EAP adheres to the EAPA Standards and Guidelines for Employee Assistance Programs
 2. Description of continuous quality improvement strategies 
 3. Examples of creative, effective strategies to meet individual and organizational needs.
 4. Use of state of the art technologies to enhance service delivery
 5. Use of evidenced based tools, like the Workplace Outcomes Suite (WOS)Tool, to demonstrate effectiveness in quantifiable business terms

Nominate a candidate for this award

EAPA Member of the Year honors a current EAPA member for outstanding contribution to EAPA within the last 24 months. Self nomination is allowed.

Eligibility Requirements
1. Is currently and has been a continuous member of EAPA for at least the last five (5) years 
2. Is actively involved in chapter/branch and/or international levels of EAPA
3. Is not currently serving on the EAPA Board or EACC
4. Special achievement/contribution to EAPA occurred in the last 24 months

Submission includes:
1. Evidence of significant contributions to EAPA at the chapter, branch, or international levels within the last 24 months (with greatest emphasis on the last 12 months).
2. Demonstration of continuous commitment to EAPA's development.
3. Active promotion of membership and involvement in EAPA.
4. Personal integrity, teamwork, and commitment to the EA profession.

Nominate a candidate for this award

EAPA Newcomer Recognition Award – given to a new member, (continuous member for less than 3 years,) who has made an impact at chapter/branch/national level of the association in driving EAPA membership, visibility and/or growth. Self nomination is allowed.

Eligibility requirements
1. Is currently and has been a continuous member of EAPA for at least the last two (2) years but no more than three (3) years
2. Is actively involved in chapter/branch and/or international levels of EAPA
3. Is not currently serving on the EAPA Board or EACC

Submission includes:
How this individual has positively impacted the growth/visibility/membership/EAPA experience at your chapter, branch, or national level

Nominate a candidate for this award

Excellence in Employee Assistance  Business Development – rewards marketing, communication or advertising campaigns, content marketing, website, blog, social media, that promote EA. Can be given to an individual or an EAP. Self nomination is allowed.

Submission includes:
1. Description of the campaign, blog, communication that promoted EA. Provide links to content or upload examples of relevant material
2. How the business development campaign promoted EA.
3. A compelling story! The more we understand your strategy and process, the better we can evaluate you.


Nominate a candidate for this award

Lifetime Achievement Award - honors an EAPA member who has made a significant contribution to EAPA and the EA profession over an extended period of time. Self nomination is allowed.

Eligibility Requirements
1. Is a current member of EAPA with at least fifteen (15) years of membership
2. Is actively involved in chapter/branch and/or international levels of EAPA
3. Is not currently serving on the EAPA Board or EACC
4. Has made multiple contributions to advance the EA profession over the course of at least 15 years

Submission includes:
Several examples of outstanding contributions or service to the EA profession over an extended period of time of at least 15 years.

Nominate a candidate for this award

Outstanding Branch Award - honors an EAPA Branch for outstanding growth, development, and community outreach.

Eligibility Requirements:
1. Is in compliance with Article 8, Section 2 of the EAPA bylaws and relevant guidelines
2. All financial obligations and information records are complete and current with EAPA
3. Special achievement has occurred within twenty-four (24) months preceding the award nomination deadline

Submission includes:
1. Demonstration of outstanding membership growth and retention over the past 24 months.
2. Description of professional development program and its active promotion to EA professionals and constituencies.
3. Promotion of the CEAP credential and facilitating members’ ongoing progress toward obtaining and renewing the CEAP.
4. Examples of leadership development and support of EAPA, including officer and member attendance at EAPA's Annual EAP Conference.
5. How branch promotes the employee assistance profession in the community.

Nominate a candidate for this award

Outstanding Chapter Award - honors an EAPA chapter for outstanding growth, development, and community outreach.

Eligibility Requirements
1. 100% of chapter members are current EAPA members
2. All financial obligations and information records are complete and current with EAPA
3. Special achievement has occurred within the twenty-four months preceding the award nomination deadline

Submission includes:
1. Demonstration of outstanding membership growth and retention over the past 24 months.
2. Description of professional development program and its active promotion to EA professionals and related constituencies.
3. Promotion of the CEAP credential and facilitates members’ ongoing progress toward obtaining and renewing the CEAP.
4. Examples of leadership development and support of EAPA, including officer and member attendance at EAPA's Annual EAP Conference.
5. How chapter promotes the employee assistance profession in the community.

Nominate a candidate for this award

Ross Von Wiegand Award
- honors a joint labor/management EA program, a labor member assistance program, an individual supporter of labor, or an individual/organization, that/who exemplifies exceptional cooperation and working relationship. Self nomination is allowed.

Submission includes:

1. Evidence of outstanding support to labor initiatives that support MAP/EAP
2. How program adheres to the EAPA Standards and Guidelines for Employee Assistance Programs
