SAMHSA Documents Mental Health Reform Priorities
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reached out to dozens of experts in the fields of mental health and addictions to solicit recommendations on the most critical issues related to mental and substance use disorders facing the American population today. Their input was used to develop Ensuring U.S. Health Reform Includes Prevention and Treatment of Mental and Substance Use Disorders.

Strong Association between Depression and Stressful Life Events
Stressful life events are strongly associated with a person's risk for major depression, but a certain gene variation long thought to increase risk in conjunction with stressful life events actually may have no effect, according to researchers funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.
