Awards for the Employee Assistance Professionals Association

Each year, EAPA's annual awards program recognizes and celebrates the achievement of individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves through their contributions to the EA profession and EAPA. Selection of award recipients is the responsibility of the EAPA Meetings Committee. The 2022 EAPA Awards will be presented at the 2022 Annual Conference and EXPO on October 7-9, in Norfolk, VA. (Recipients must be in attendance to receive their award). Nominations Deadline is July 15; Award winners will be notified in August.

Nominations must be submitted by July 15, 2022!

Awards Categories:

EAPA Member of the Year

Given 1pm Saturday October 8

Honors a current EAPA member for outstanding contribution to EAPA or delivery of services in the EA field within the last 24 months.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Is currently and has been a continuous member of EAPA for at least five (5) years.
  • Is actively involved in chapter/branch and/or international levels of EAPA.
  • Is not currently serving on the EAPA Board or EACC.
  • Special achievement/contribution to EAPA or the EA field occurred within the last 24 months.

Selection Criteria:

  • Evidence of significant contributions to the EA field or to EAPA at the chapter, branch, or international levels within the last 24 months (with greatest emphasis on the last 12 months).
  • Has demonstrated continuous commitment to EAPA's development.
  • Actively promotes membership and involvement in EAPA.
  • Exhibits personal integrity, teamwork, and commitment to the EA profession.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Given 8am on Friday October 7

Honors an EAPA member who has made a significant contribution to EAPA and the EA profession over an extended period of time.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Is a current member of EAPA with at least fifteen (15) years of membership.
  • Is actively involved in chapter/branch and/or international levels of EAPA.
  • Is not currently serving on the EAPA Board or EACC.
  • Has made multiple contributions to advance the EA profession over the course of at least 15 years.

Selection Criteria:

  • Evidence of several examples of outstanding contributions or service to the EA profession over the course of at least 15 years. 

Outstanding Chapter/Branch Award

Given 12:30 Friday October 7

Honors an EAPA chapter or branch for outstanding growth, development, and community outreach.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Is in compliance with Article 8, Sections 1 or 2 of the EAPA by-laws and relevant guidelines.
  • 100% of chapter/branch members are current EAPA members.
  • All financial obligations and information records are complete and current with EAPA.
  • Special achievement has occurred within twenty-four (24) months preceding the award nomination deadline.

Selection Criteria:

  • Has demonstrated outstanding membership growth and retention over the past 24 months.
  • Provides a professional development program and actively promotes it to EA professionals and related constituencies.
  • Actively promotes the CEAP credential and facilitates members’ ongoing progress toward obtaining and renewing the CEAP.
  • Provides leadership development and support of EAPA, including officer and member attendance at the Annual World EAP Conference.
  • Promotes the employee assistance profession in the community.

Best Use of Technology or Innovation in Employee Assistance

Given 8am Saturday Oct 8

Honors an EAP, business or entrepreneur for cutting edge use of technology or innovative delivery of services in the EA field.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), or a business or entrepreneur that has designed technology or innovative services targeting the EA community (clients or organizations).
  • Nomination includes a description of the technology or innovative services, how the nominee has incorporated it into the delivery of EA services (including specific application examples), how it has led to improvement in the delivery of EA services, and how EAPA or its Chapters, Branches or members contributed their expertise to the development of the technology or service.
  • Has actively engaged in partnership activities through the EAPA organization over the past 24 months, such as advertising, sponsorship and/or participation in the Annual EAPA Institute/EXPO.

Selection Criteria:

  • Evidence of significant contributions to technology or innovative services in the EA field within the last 24 months (with greatest emphasis on the last 12 months).
  • Has utilized the expertise of the EAPA Organization and/or EAPA Chapters, Branches, or members in development of the technology or innovative service. 

Ross Von Wiegand Labor Award

Given 8 am Sunday October 9

Honors a joint labor/management EA program, a labor member assistance program, an individual supporter of labor, or an individual/organization, that/who exemplifies exceptional cooperation and working relationship.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Adheres to the EAPA Standards and Guidelines for Employee Assistance Programs

Selection Criteria:

  • Evidence of outstanding labor initiatives that support MAP/EAP
