The SBIRT Training Study will kick off with your first survey on August 16th, but before that, you need to register to receive the certificate for 9 PDHs/CE contact hours.

Original Information

ORCAS, a mobile health research and development company, with funding from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse & Alcoholism, invites you to take part in a brand new, EAPA hosted online training program designed to help EA professionals increase their skill set and feel confident using Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques. Study participants will receive 9 hours of in-depth training using state-of-the-art technology for FREE (a $450 value) and earn 9 PDHs in Domain III, NAADAC, NASW (pending approval), NBCC (pending approval), CE contact hours.

If selected to participate, you will learn how to routinely screen EAP clients for alcohol use, conduct a brief motivational interview for those who screen positive, and facilitate referrals for additional care. 

The course can be completed at your convenience during specified weeks between August-October 2016. To qualify, you must work in the United States and have had less than 6 hours of training in SBIRT and MI in the last year. If you qualify, you will complete:

   a 9 hour online training course with modules in MI and SBIRT

   3 brief online surveys

   Additional brief evaluation at the end of the study to obtain PDH/CE contact hour certificate
